Keen to spend a summer doing ecology in the Colorado Rocky Mountains? If so, the Niwot Ridge LTER is hiring four field technicians to conduct research on Niwot Ridge. See below for details! Applications close on Tuesday, March 24th.
General Field Technicians
General field technicians will work on a variety of Niwot Ridge LTER research projects including alpine streamflow, plant and animal surveys, alpine lake sampling, soils monitoring, and meteorological instrument installation. Some laboratory work, data entry, and driving the fieldwork suburban between CU Boulder and the Mountain Research Station in Nederland may be part of the position. We aim to hire three general field technicians; one of these will be a 12-week position with a start day of May 26th running through August 21st, and two will be 8-week positions with start dates of June 22nd running through August 21st. Vegetation Technician
The vegetation technician will assist with vegetation surveys, plant biomass harvests and general plot maintenance in long-term experimental plots in the alpine tundra at our research site on Niwot Ridge. Most of the work will be done outdoors, in the alpine tundra, and will require accurate plant species identification in plots from a range of long-term projects established to detect and document changes in alpine vegetation in response to environmental changes. Some work will also be done in the laboratory and include entering data. Driving the fieldwork Suburban between CU Boulder and the Mountain Research Station in Nederland—including on 4WD Forest Service roads—may be part of the position. This is a 10-week position that will start on June 15th and run through August 21st. View and apply for this vegetation technician position!
